It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce that Christopher Jay White, 25 of Minneapolis, MN passed away in an accident on October 6, 2018 while in Austin, TX. Chris was born on March 16, 1993 in Denver, Colorado. He attended Cherry Creek High School and was a 2015 graduate of the University of Colorado – Boulder. Chris had been living in Minneapolis, MN for the past three years and working at Homegrown Lacrosse as the CFOO and Youth Coach.
Chris is survived by his parents, Rick and Holly White, his brother, Matt, and his grandmother, Patricia Ensign all of Denver as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Olivia Wilson, of Minneapolis, his soulmate and the love and joy of his life along with their dog, Koda.
Although taken too young, Chris packed more life into 25 years than most people have in a lifetime. From the Mexico family trips to the many European countries he traveled to, Chris was all about the next adventure. His travels with Olivia took them to Costa Rica, Thailand, and Vietnam. He loved to hike, snowboard, dirt bike with his brother, Matt, and scuba dive. Chris also loved the game of lacrosse, coaching and mentoring young men and was known as a fierce competitor both on and off the field.
The loss of Chris in our daily lives has broken many hearts but we know that he would want us to look within and find the joy and love we all had with him and carry that forward in our lives in whatever way works for each of us.
Chris had a passion for bringing the game of lacrosse to underserved communities particularly Native American youth. To honor this passion and Chris’s life, the Chris White Scholarship Fund has been created. Donations made out to the Chris White Scholarship Fund may be sent to Homegrown Lacrosse, 3125 Hennepin Ave S, Minneapolis MN, 55408 or online at https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/chris-white-scholarship-fund
