Gopal was born on October 25, 1936 in India to Hiranand and Sita Khatwani. He married his love, Kavita Khatwani, on June 12, 1966. Their union brought the birth of their son, Umesh. Family was the most important thing to him. He brought his family to the United States in October 1984 to join their family that was already residing here.
