Reflection of Life

Jacqueline Yvette Bedford Barlowe was born on January 10, 1964 in Austin, TX. She was the youngest and only girl born to the union of Ira S. Bedford Sr. and Willie Harris Bedford. She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age joining David Chapel Baptist Church.

Jacqueline aka “Jackie” was a strong family-oriented woman. Being a mother was her pride and joy. Her two sons and grandchildren meant everything to her. She also had a gift of making people feel good about themselves and always caring for people. She was a very confident woman. Always “dressed to the nines” looking fabulous as she would say.

Throughout her illness she showed up to each appointment and treatment with the best attitude and as the best dressed. She would always say “this is my job and I’m going to work”. She never looked like what she been through. She was a fighter and her strength inspired many. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the holidays. Cheesecakes were her specialty and even when she didn’t feel well, she mustered up enough strength to make them. She also loved spending time with family and listening to music. She was one of the rare ones so effortlessly herself and was loved by those who knew it.

She departed this life on the 16th day of June 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira S. Bedford Sr. and Willie Bedford and one brother, Ira S. Bedford Jr.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her two sons, Arthur Barlowe and Andrew Barlowe; four grandchildren, Avery Barlowe, Aubrey Barlowe, London Barlowe, and Roman Barlowe; three brothers, Ronald Bedford, Gregory Bedford (Val), and Reginald Bedford; sister-in-law Charmaine Bedford; one aunt, Roberta Mackey; one uncle, John Bedford (Margie); three nieces; three nephews and a host of family and friends.

I had the HONOR of taking care of 'Jackie Twin' throughout her brave and graceful 'job' of fighting her illness. Talk about inspiring...we became buddies, and I so often have thought about the fact that I would have loved to have had her in my life long, long ago, and not just for sake of illness. To her sons, you are beyond cherished. I feel like I know you through Jackie. To her grandchildren, oh, she will always be with you. To all family, thank you for Jackie. Am missing her smile but am hearing that giggle. On behalf of our clinic team, we have been privileged to be part of her journey. Always, the other Jackie, NP.

I will always remember those early mornings on my way to work seeing you pick up litter at North Pointe Terrace Apartments wearing white high heel shoes. An epiphany of class and elegance. I had the honor of knowing her for over twenty years and am so sorry for her loss. Jackie was loved by many in Austin and San Antonio. As you will see by the picture from her 2015 birthday party her smile could just light up a room. Now gone from our sight , but never from our hearts.

Jackie Jackie is what I called my glamorous dear friend because she was too much of lady just to be one Jackie. I will miss all our morning runs for McDonald’s coffee and all the fun we had at our Friday happy hours at Pappasitos. The things we laughed about and the serious talks we had about life I will cherish. Grateful that you Jackie Jackie were my friend so I’m not saying goodbye only see you later, love you Jackie Jackie forever......♥️
