Melba Lois McCarty

Melba Lois McCarty was born on April 25, 1931 and passed away on July 5, 2018 at the age of 87. Melba was born to Jack and Hazel Ferrell in Bristow, Oklahoma but grew up in Yoakum, Texas. Melba met and married the love of her life, Robert C. McCarty on September 3, 1949 in Yoakum. They had a loving and devoted marriage for 69 years. Soon after marrying, Robert and Melba moved to Austin, Texas where they raised their family.

Melba was survived by her brother, Jack Ferrell and sister, Linda Higdon. Melba was a mother to 3 children, Roxanne McCarty Kline (Dan), Robin Terry McCarty Stathos, and Robert Russell McCarty. Melba had 4 loving grandchildren, Jason Stathos, Brad Kline (Morgan), Traci Kline and Ryan Stathos (Jessica). She was also very proud of and adored her 7 great grandchildren.

Along with being a mother and grandmother, Melba worked at the American Cancer Society for 20 years, was active in real estate for 10 years, and finished her working career at Ivey Wade’s. Melba loved spending time with her family, and will always be remember for her wonderful cooking, which brought us together for many family gatherings. She loved playing cards and traveling with her close girlfriends. We will always cherish our memories of her and we were blessed to call her ours.
