Paul W. Kutch, 78, of Austin, Texas died Monday, July 18, 2011. He was the youngest of six children, born to Conrad Reginald Kutch and Willie Bliss Shofner Kutch. Paul was born on July 5, 1933 at the family’s farm home near Ringgold, Texas, which is located near the Red River on the Texas/Oklahoma border. At the age of 6, his family relocated to Austin. He passed from this life at his home, surrounded by family & friends on the evening of July 18th, 2011. Paul was baptized in February, 1959 by the minister at Hyde Park Church of Christ, Tex Williams. He remained a faithful Christian and continued to worship until Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease consumed his precious memory and left him totally dependant on his family and friends who love him. Paul attended Austin Independent Schools through his education and at Austin High School he met his loving wife, Ila Thomas whom he married on October 6th, 1950. They were married 61 years. He joined the National Guard of the United States and was honorably discharged in July 1946. He began work in the electrical contracting business. He later formed a business partnership with Swede Palmquist known in the Austin area as Palmquist & Kutch Electric Co. After many successful years in business together, Swede retired, Paul and his family continued in the business that came to known as P & K Electric. He was in business over 50 years. He was an avid rancher and enjoyed many days in the Hill Country. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and he loved riding horses. He won the State Championship in Coon Hunting and raised many great hounds. He served on the P.R. Board of Medina Children’s Home for many years. He was a very dedicated and loving husband, father, PawPaw and friend. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his wife Ila Thomas Kutch, three sons, Denny, David and Derek and one daughter Deborah Kutch Harris, daughter in law Norma Kutch, son in law Dan R. Harris Jr. His grand children, Monica Kutch Roberts, Libbey Kutch, Tyler Kutch, Katye Harris, Cassie Kutch, Casey Harris, and Kallye Harris. He has one great grandchild, Rhett Roberts. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Medina Children’s’ Home, Central Texas Children’s Home and Heart to Heart Hospice of Austin. A visitation was held on Wednesday, the 20th of July at Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning, Thursday, the 21st of July at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks
