Alex (Ossie) Osinchuk October 8, 1918 – May 29, 2018

Ossie Osinchuck, late of Barrhead, Alberta, passed away on May 29 2018 at the age of 99 years. He is survived by his grandsons; Shawn McPherson (Nicole) of Ottawa, ONT, Ande Jacksen (Haley) of Fort Assiniboine, AB, great granddaughter; Courtney Berg of Onoway, AB. Ossie is predeceased by his parents; Stephan and Anna, wife; Anne (nee Szerenas), daughter; Sharon McPherson, sister; Mary, Effie, brothers; Steve and Len.

Ossie enlisted in the Canadian Air Force in World War II and worked as a mechanic on military aircraft. After the war he obtained his automotive mechanics license and operated out of his own shop for many years. He was an avid Hunter, loved to fish, enjoyed playing cards and dancing, but most of all he was a family man teaching youngsters about life. The family would like to thank staff at Hillcrest Lodge and Barrhead hospital for many years of good care. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 between 7-9 p.m. at Rose Garden Chapel in Barrhead. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Father Johnny VC celebrant. Interment to take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Edmonton. In lieu of flowers a donation could be sent to Stars air ambulance or charity of choice. went hunting with alex in the 1970 s... alex, ann, and myself,,,,,,taught me alot, had great time,,,,,i offered to pay for the expenses incurred ,,,but he said no ,,,,you are here as a worker when we get an animal,,, told me of many stories of his life,,,,,,making gun barrels on a lath in timmons ont,,,,,,,the working on ww 2 aircraft wiring,,,,,farming with his fatherinlaw,,,,,then opening his mech shop ossies front end alligment,,,,,,,,,,,,he spoke very well ,,,,,never complained about his health,,,,,told me stories working for a man on Victoria island,,,,,lied about his name because he was starving ,,,and was worried about his uk name so he called himself andy jackson,,,,,after finishing his work years later the farmer liked him very much ,,,,,and told him he knew that he was uk,,,,,but did not matter,,,,,,left in good spirits
i asked alex ,,,,,what advise he would give me for a good life,,,,,,,,,stand by the side of the road and be a friend to man......................good memories ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,great man....................al osinchuk
