James H. Thompson III

James H. Thompson III died peacefully Jan. 15, 2021 at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary; sons Eric and his wife Carla of Oklahoma, Randall and his wife Kim of Idaho, James Sr. and his son James Jr.; daughter Amy; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers John and David and his wife Elizabeth; and sister Loree with partner Ed. James was preceded in death by parents James H. Thompson Jr. and Geraldine Thompson and sister Claire. James is an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the USAF for 11 years and left the service as an E6 technical sergeant. After his military career, he worked for the East Baton Rouge Sherriff’s Office for 25 years and the Baton Rouge City Constable’s Office for 17 years. He had a passion for flying model airplanes and participated in several RC clubs. Viewing Services will be held at Rabenhorst East on Monday, Jan. 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by graveside with military honors at Louisiana National Cemetery at 11 a.m. James Jr, Randall Thompson, John Thompson, Andy Chase Sr., John Forestieri, Jon Martin, Johnny Barron, Johnny Barron Jr. and Cruz Barron will serve as pallbearers.
