

In Celebration of William D. McNaughton April 2, 1934 – November 15, 2017 William D McNaughton (age 83) passed away due to complications from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was preceded in death by his parents Rodger and Charlotte McNaughton, his brothers Rodger McNaughton and Tom McNaughton. He is survived and will be missed by daughters Jennifer (Bernie) Nabozny, Katy Hayes, and Elizabeth McNaughton; grandchildren Jesse McNaughton, Chelsea Nabozny, Ben Nabozny, Amber Bothne, Seth Katapady, Jake Hayes, and Arielle Hayes; his brother James (Sue) McNaughton and his many nieces and nephews and cousins. Born in Mt. Pleasant, PA, raised in Lancaster, OH, spending the summers of his youth at “Guard” in Maryland. He transplanted to MI after serving in the Army in a M.A.S.H. unit in Germany. William (Bill) loved the freedom of the road and traveled the highways and back roads of the US and Canada from Maine to Florida, across the Midwest and South, Colorado to Arizona. He taught at Oakland Community College (Orchard Ridge Campus) for close to 30 years; among the classes he taught were Biology, Man and Environment, and Anatomy and Physiology in the nursing program. He loved the outdoors and the environment, and “Reduce, reuse, and recycle” was a theme in his life. He was involved in many projects over his lifetime to bring fresh, organic food to people’s tables, beautification of the world through gardens, and clean energy to the world. We will be celebrating William’s life December 22, 2017 at Unity Church of Jackson 3385 Miles Rd. Jackson, MI 49201. Service at 3:30 pm to be followed by a gathering in the social hall to share food and stories.
