Son of J.W. Nesom and Una Nesom.
Chip was born and raised in San Angelo, and shortly left for the hill country where he met the love of his life, Robin Nesom in 1979. They went on to build The Rod Stop in 1989, a full service automotive, marine, and restoration shop that is still in operation. He was also a volunteer fire fighter at the Buchanan Dam Fire Dept.
In his younger years, he grew a love for drag racing, winning Super Chevy Sunday alongside his wife in 1984. He continued to follow all things drag racing and was an avid bass fisherman, competing in many bass tournaments throughout the years. In 1993, he opened a seasonal firework business that found great success and he truly enjoyed the smiling faces of the families after giving away freebies.
He was a long standing, passionate and proud Patriot. God, country, family and kindness were that core of his character.
He was a lover of music including Led Zeppelin, The Scorpions, Rush and the list goes on.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Robin Warren Nesom, daughter Kelsey Nesom of Austin, TX, son James Worth Nesom III (Jamie) and his wife Jaclyn Ross Nesom of Burnet, TX, his sister Carol McNabb of San Angelo, TX. and many grand doggies.
Weeks prior to his death, he was gifted the news of being a first time grandfather in March of 2022 by Jamie and Jaclyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Nesom and Una Nesom, father- in-law Robert Warren, brother Joe Edward Nesom.
A graveside service will be held Thursday September 16, 2021 at 10:00 am at Bluffton Cemetery.
