Born January 10, 1933, in Menominee, MI to the late Martin and Anna Marie (Rittich) Nerat.
He is preceded in death by – His loving wife, Esther (Skip) Nerat; son Donald J. Nerat Jr.; parents, Martin and Anna; sisters Nettie and Dorothy; and brothers Martin, Frank, Kenneth and infant brother Rudy.
Surviving Donald are his son Barry Nerat; his daughter, Tammy Brewer; and his son-in-law Richard Brewer. In addition, Donald is survived by his sister Margaret, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
After graduating High School, Don enlisted into the U.S. Navy where he met many of his lifelong friends. Serving for many years achieving his dream of playing All World Softball.
After his discharge from the Navy, Don served in the National Guard. Don was employed by Roadway Express, and retired after 34 years, in 1998.
Don was known best for his zest for life and contagious smile. He always made time to meet new people wherever he went. His commitment and love to his family and friends was unquestionable. He will be missed by all that knew him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, from 11:00-12:00pm, at Life House Church; 1534 Terrace Ave, Carlisle, PA 17013. The funeral service, to be officiated by Pastor Kipp Penrod, will begin at 12:00pm. A burial service with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens; 4855 Londonderry Rd, Harrisburg, PA.
