John B. Tighe, 89, of Camp Hill passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on May 22, 1929 in Allentown. He was the son of the late James and Josephine (McGinley) Tighe. Brothers James and Hayden (Joe) Tighe predeceased him.
John was a graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, where he excelled in football and basketball. He was an avid Notre Dame fan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, servicing as a Sergeant in the National Guard, US Army, Medical Detachment, 28th Infantry Division.
Prior to his retirement, John worked at Harrisburg Dairies for 33 years and was a PIAA Official for Football and Basketball for 30 years. He was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg.
John is survived by his wife of 71 years, Martha J. Tighe, Camp Hill, daughters Patricia (Richard) Rife and Judy (Dennis) Neghiu and sons John (Deborah) Tighe and Thomas (Catherine) Tighe, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Cathy (Bo) Durborow and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap.
