Ann was a graduate of Oakland City High School and DePauw University, where she was a charter member of Delta Gamma sorority. After graduation, Ann worked at Methodist Hospital, before taking a job at Channel 13. She then traveled to Dallas and worked for a local TV station, before taking an elementary teaching job at Drexel Gardens Elementary in Indianapolis. Upon getting married and moving to Carmel, she took a teaching position at College Wood Elementary School. After teaching first grade for a number of years, she enrolled in a master’s degree program for library science at Butler University. Ann finished her elementary teaching career working as a librarian/media specialist at College Wood. She taught for 27 years.
Ann’s interests outside of school included singing in the St. Luke’s UMC Choir, reading, taking long walks with her husband of 63 years, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Ann is survived by her husband, Edwin L. Stage; her son Ed C. Stage (Vicki); and her daughter Patty Grider (Marty). Ruth is also survived by grandchildren Eddie (Madi), Sam, and great grandson Finn.
Private services for the family will be held.
