It is with great sadness that the family of Ngoan Thi Vu announces her passing during the family vacation in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ngoan was born on June 26, 1955 and passed on Sunday June 10, 2018. Her beloved husband Lien passed away May 28, 1998. Being a widow for 20 years, Ngoan worked hard raising her two children. Ann and Thomas will deeply miss both their parents greatly. Ngoan will be fondly remembered by her 5 sisters, 5 brothers, 9 nieces, and 11 nephews. Ngoan sought refuge in the United States due to the Vietnam War. Fleeing alone, Ngoan survived 40-day voyage without food or fresh water with dreams of peace and prosperity. She met her husband in the state of Montana and they moved to New Orleans in 1985 with their newly born daughter for a better life. Ngoan and her husband worked and built a grocery store called Basin Supermarket on the corner of Basin and Bienville. Ngoan was known for her amazing culinary skills and making delicacies for family and friends enjoy. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart.

(Mass will take place at Mary Queen of Vietnam Church, 14001 Dwyer Blvd., New Orleans, LA, beginning at 6:00PM)
Visitation at St. Bernard memorial, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, June 23rd from 7:00AM - 8:20AM.
(Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Ngoan at Mary Queen of Vietnam Church, 14001 Dwyer Blvd., New Orleans, LA, beginning at 9:00AM)
Following services, Ngoan will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard memorial Gardens in Chalmette, LA.
