JAY TIMOTHY CROUCH Jay Timothy Crouch, 71, passed away on June 24. Tim was surrounded by loved ones during his final days, and they are so proud of the brave, two-year battle he fought against cancer. He endured countless treatments with a sense of humor, always making medical staff smile. Tim was born in Mexico, MO, and raised in Liberty, MO, by parents A.J. and Joy Crouch. After graduating from Liberty High School, he attended William Jewell College, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity and lettered in track. Tim then began law school, but his plans changed when he was drafted in 1969. Tim completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He served his country in Frankfurt, Germany, before accepting an early release in May 1972 as U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War was winding down. After returning from Germany, Tim started working at Hallmark Cards. Although he was already a father of two, and was working full-time, Tim completed his Juris Doctor at UMKC by attending evening classes. Tim continued working at Hallmark where he enjoyed a long, successful career and also loved teaching graduate students Business Law at Webster University during the evenings. Tim spent the last few decades in the Tampa Bay area with his loving wife, Gail, who was by his side all the way through his long fight. He is survived by Gail and three siblings, Tam Smith (husband Bob), Jamie Crouch (wife Stephanie) and John Crouch. Tim is also survived by his three daughters, Sally Mayer (husband Brandon), Lora O’Byrne (husband John), and Amy Crouch (husband Hoyt Ogilvie), one step-daughter, Stephanie Blesie, four granddaughters, Megan Mayer, Kate Mayer, Isabella O’Byrne, and Ada Ogilvie, two step-granddaughters, Anna O’Byrne and Carolina O’Byrne, and one grandson, Parker Ogilvie. It takes a strong man to spend your life surrounded by so many females. Tim’s beautiful eyes, warm smile, and sharp wit will be missed by the many people who loved him. To honor Tim’s courageous battle, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.
