On March 3, 2020 Michael Christopher Goodwin (AKA Goodie) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, mother, and family following a 30 month battle with cancer. He was born on October 30, 1971 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It takes nature 4 billion years to produce a diamond however, it only took God 48 years to create Goodie. .
Goodie is survived by his loving wife Laurie Goodwin, his four children PFC Justin Eden (Amy) Hunter Army Airfield, GA., Sophia Eden of St. Petersburg, FL., Hanna and Hayden Cileli of Tampa, FL., his parents Frank and Charlene Webster of Orlando FL., Uncle Mitchell Barnes (Craig) of Atlanta, GA, Aunt Anita Cornelius (B.J.) of Dade City, FL., brother Richard Purcell and niece Victoria Purcell of West Palm Beach, FL., cousins Kelly Torres of Davie, FL., Jason Mathews (Regina) of New York, N.Y., Ashley Deburke (Eric) of Port Washington, N.Y., Steven Meehin (Alaina) of Frisco, Tx., Dionne Thompson (Kyle) of Woodridge, VA., Rachel Meehin (Steve) of Long Beach, NY., D'Ette Matthews of West Palm Beach, FL., Uncle Ernie Matthews (Carol) of Jupiter, FL., Goodie is also survived by his other "Moms" Carol D'Alessandro and Sharon Lardieri. Sisters on his wife's side are Lisa Stoler (Paul), Sharon D'Alessandro (Laurel) , and Jennifer “Niffer” D'Alessandro (who was Goodie's favorite) (Angela) and his extended "Rugger" family.
Goodie was first a family man…He loved his wife and children and pets Layla and Zoe with a vengeance as well as his parents and extended family members. He was introduced to another one of the great loves of his life…Rugby… when he attended the University of South Florida. Even though he went on to have a very successful professional career in software sales, his band of Rugby brothers remained important to him until his death.
With the heart of a champion and the soul of a Rugger, we learned from Goodie to never back down from a challenge or give up in the face of great opportunity. We want to tell Goodie that hopefully, it will be awhile before we see each other again...if that is okay with him...but when we do, we bet it will be on a Sunday and the "Fins" (AKA Miami Dolphins) will be on at 1pm. Safe Journey, Goodie. You are loved beyond measure.
