Donna Jolly passed way at home after 93 years of exploring the world around her. Born in Clinton Iowa in 1925, Donna was the youngest of 6 children. Perhaps it was the movies of the era, her brothers going off to war, or just a sense of adventure, but she left Clinton heading to California after the war. She made it as far as Denver where she met and married Doug Jolly in 1950.
They took advantage of Donna’s job at United Airlines to travel, with Paris being one of her favorite cities. In the early 60’s they started a family and moved to Bear Valley where she lived for over 55 years before moving to Colorado Springs to live with her daughter.
Donna never lost her love of travel and continued to see the world after Doug’s passing 29 years ago. Her travels took her to 6 continents and exotic places such as Indian, Kenya, China, Russia, Australia, South American and most of Europe. Her favorite form of travel was by ship and she was often joined by her bridge friends. Bridge was her other love, and she played regularly with friends.
Her passing marks the end of a generation. She is survived by her son Doug Jolly III, his wife Linda and their daughters Amanda and Diana, and her daughter Karen Jolly and her children Meghann, Aaron and Gabriella.
A Liturgy service will be held for her on Thursday, April 18th, 9:45am at Holy Name Catholic Church, 3290 W. Milan Ave., Sheridan, 80110. A committal service will be held after at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 11:15am Area “C”. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow from 12 Noon-4:00pm at the Molly Brown Summer House, 2690 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Denver, 80227.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities or to Pikes Peak Hospice.
