Alan was born September 8, 1937 to Ray and Viola (Lockler) Warden in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of five children. He graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering and attended Conservative Baptist Seminary in Denver, CO. He married Diane Maurer in May 1966 in Oak Park, IL. He worked for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago for several years in their engineering department. In 1969, he and his wife went to Liberia and served with SIM as missionaries at radio station ELWA. In 1982, he was hired by the University of Missouri as Director of Energy Management and in 1984 was appointed Director of Campus Facilities which he did until retirement in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children: Lana Trombly of Ft Lauderdale, FL; Kent and Amy Warden of Olathe, KS; Keith and Heather Warden of Olathe, KS; Kurt and Erin Warden of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Donn Warden and Norman (Margaret) Warden; and two sisters, Charlene (Steve) Scott and Doreen (Randy) Radzik.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, February 27th at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 1st at 4:00 pm at Compass E-Free Church in Columbia.
