OBITUARY

Charlotte Marie Henrietta Lauret

6 December , 19193 July , 2019

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Charlotte Lauret on Wednesday, July 3, at the age of 99 years. Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Sylvia (Rick) of Courtenay, Rhonda (Anthony) of Calgary, stepdaughter Dawn (Doug), grandsons Robert and David and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husbands, Stephen Daykin and Paul Lauret, daughter Sharon, and sisters Faye and Lanore.

Charlotte was born in Courtenay, North Dakota and spent her childhood on a farm in Stratton, Ontario. In later years she frequently reminisced about life on the farm, which she and her first husband had hoped to make their permanent home. World War II intervened and the couple moved to Winnipeg, where Charlotte took business courses and found secretarial work. After the death of their eldest daughter, she moved with daughter Sylvia to Vancouver to start a new life. Here she met husband Paul Lauret and moved to Surrey, BC.

While working and raising a family Charlotte continued to pursue her favourite passion, gardening. Upon retirement, she opened her own store, “Charlotte’s Country Cottage,” selling knick knacks and decorations for the home, many handmade. Eventually, the couple moved to Vancouver Island, where Charlotte remained active serving on various volunteer committees and doing crafts. Many family members are pleased to own one of her handmade quilts.

Charlotte spent her final years as resident at Cumberland Lodge. The family wishes to thank all the staff for their exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
