Joseph Delma Cointment III

Joseph Delma Cointment III, age 81, of Dallas, Texas passed away on August 5, 2018. Joe was born June 18, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Althea Schwing Cointment and Dr. Joseph Delma Cointment, Jr., and grew up in Plaquemine, Louisiana.

Joe attended high school at Sewanee Military Academy, where he was valedictorian. He received a bachelors and masters degree in Electrical Engineering from California Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University. He worked for over 20 years at Texas Instruments as a software manager.

Joe enjoyed playing golf, duplicate bridge, and traveling, especially cruises. He enjoyed watching football, particularly the LSU Tigers. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends, and he adored his dogs and grand-dogs. He also loved a good meal.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Delma Cointment, Jr., and son-in-law Steve Moore.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kay Cointment; daughter Kitty Polly; daughter Carolyn Nolan and husband David; sisters Janie LeBlanc and husband Jerry, Chinkie Cointment and partner Patsy Picard, sisters-in-law Carolyn Jesse and husband Chuck, Alison Thompson, and Frances Davis and husband Allen, nephews Kendrick LeBlanc (Carla), Stephen LeBlanc, David LeBlanc (Jennifer), Chris Davis (April), nieces Jane Edwards (Kevin), Jenna Pourciau (Greg.)

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home 8011 Frankford Road Dallas, Texas. Funeral service and burial will be held in his hometown of Plaquemine, Louisiana, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion at a later date.
