OBITUARY

Elizabeth Ann Kilcup

13 March, 194618 April, 2021

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Kilcup passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021 at Dartmouth General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Ralph M & Frances P (Grant) Kilcup. She was predeceased by her brother John “Jack” Murray Kilcup. She is survived by her brother Kevin (Ann) Kilcup of Dartmouth, N.S.; Aunt & Uncle Ian & Kay Grant of Tabusintac, N.B.; and numerous cousins and friends. Betty was born in Sant John, N.B. on March 13, 1946. After graduating from the Saint John Vocational School, she moved to Ontario where she worked in the Insurance industry for many years. She loved the outdoors where she spent numerous hours hiking and skydiving. She was an avid bookworm and enjoyed scrabble, crossword puzzles and cross-stitch. She returned to Saint John N.B. after retirement where she pursued her passion for genealogy and immersed herself into researching her family history. She also volunteered with local youth groups and tutored young students. In her later years she moved to Halifax, N.S.

“There once was a little girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead and now she is soaring on the wings of an eagle to her loving heavenly Father. Do not weep, for I have gone to a place where the sun always shines. I only ask that whenever you see a sunset, think of me and smile”.

Cremation and Arrangements have been entrusted to A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home. In accordance with Betty’s wishes her ashes will be scattered in Hants County, N.S. – ancestral homeland of the Kilcups. There will be no visitation or funeral due to Covid-19. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I wish to express sympathies on behalf of our family. We have shared many special times with Betty over the years, most recently at Beulah and here in New York. She loved steamed cranberry pudding at Christmas, laughing over a game of dominos or cards and going for walks. We spent a lot of time at church functions as well because she had a strong faith in God. She is probably sharing a laugh with Dad in glory right now.
Rest in peace Betty.
Love

My deepest condolences to the Kilcup family.
My mother's maiden name was Kilcup & she was born in Hants County so I think I may be related to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth would be a person I would have liked to have known.
May she now rest in peace.
