It is with great sadness to share of her passing from an unrecoverable stroke, Monday June 17, 2019 in the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Liverpool in 1934 she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Wamboldt and Mary (Bennett) Wamboldt. Growing up rural poor she went to work at age 12 in a Chinese restaurant. She made her way to Montreal and worked in a factory. She made her way back to Nova Scotia and trained as a nursing assistant and worked at the Cole Harbour Rehab Centre and the Halifax Infirmary. She married, had three daughters all close in age. She knew she had to work, but was very determined in her wish to be home for them. She initially started a Monday to Friday boarding home for very young children. This grew with her husbands help to become the ABC Nursery opening in 1964. ABC Nursery School was the second registered early childhood learning centre in Halifax. Through the years she was active in many aspects of early childhood education in Nova Scotia, she truly was a pioneer. Auntie Rose was very special to many children and their families. She retired and sold ABC Nursery in 1986. Roselyn was a wonderful artist of oil painting, tole painting, paper art and flower arrangements. Roselyn was kind and caring. She was fun loving and loved to laugh, her laughter was contagious. She loved music and loved to dance. Even in dementia her loving nature and good humour stayed true. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Batt, Dartmouth and Donna Batt (John Robertson), Mount Uniacke; grandchildren, Crystal Umlah-Selig (Terry Selig), Liverpool, Josh Leblanc (Kat), Orleans, Ontario and Cheyenne Leblanc, St. John’s, NFLD; Roselyn is known as Super Nanny to her great-grandchildren, Christina King, Mary Mae King, Christopher Umlah and Jacob Leblanc; her words “the son I never had” Darrell Aulenback; son-in-law, Marc Damphousse, Dominican Republic; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Wamboldt and Shirley Batt; many treasured nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Lewellyn “Lew”; daughter, Linda; sisters, Judith, Marilyn, Helen; brothers, Forest, Douglas, William, Lawrence “Sonny”, Robert “Bob” and Malcom “Tex Leon”.
