Services will be Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 until the service at 2 pm. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Online condolences may be expressed at rungemortuary.com.
Dean was born on June 5, 1948 in Scott County, IA, the son of Hugh and Zelma (Baughman) Ficke. He married Leola “Lee” Lawrenz on October 1, 1988 in Moline.
He graduated from Central College in Pella, IA and while serving in the U.S. Air Force, received several Master’s Degrees. He worked as an analyst for the Rock Island Arsenal for many years prior to retiring in 2008.
In his free time, he enjoyed gardening of all types, doing yardwork, traveling with his wife and spending time with all his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lee, Davenport, children: Kim (John) Swierz, MA, Greg (Laura) Moffitt, KY and Jay (Dana) Moffitt, Bettendorf, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a brother, Jim (Kate) Ficke, Chicago.
His parents preceded him in death.
