Lonnie Ray Showers

Funeral services will be Friday, July 30, 2021 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at the mortuary. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com.

Lonnie was born June 5, 1951 in Iowa, the son of Eldon R. and Erma (Hayes) Showers. He met the love of his life, Brenda Wood in 1996. He had worked as a truck driver for many years prior to retiring in 2017. He loved the outdoors, going on walks at VanderVeer Park and drives and was an avid sports fan, especially golf and watching the Cubs and Bears. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Ozzi and having his granddogs, Lola and Hank over for staycations.

Those left to honor his memory include companion, Brenda, his children, Carisa (Joe) Oxley, Arlington, TX and Jared (Jenna) Showers, Springtown, TX, her children: Jamie (Jason) McKenzie, Bettendorf, Matthew Anderson, Silvis, IL, Darrin (Amber) Anderson, Chicago, IL and Joseph (Kimberly) Wood, Rock Island, his grandchildren: Grant, Katelyn, Madi, Manning and Madden and her grandchildren: Grace, Collin and Roy; sister, Patricia Toomey, Salinas, CA, brother, Verl (Chris) Showers, Davenport and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

His parents, brothers Danny and Dennis preceded him in death.
