Tom was born to parents John and Marie Jennings on July 31, 1954 in Chicago, IL. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and Gordon Technical High School. He was a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and the IBEW apprenticeship program.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Jamie Cassidy (Scott); his son, Christopher Jennings; four grandchildren; Brynn, Patrick, Tyler and Grace; his brother and sisters, Jack (Sue), Patty (Mike), Cathy, Maureen (Tony), Noni, Peggy, Kevin (Michelle), Colleen (John); and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
An avid football fan and, as he would tell you, an exceptional player, “The older I get, the better I was!” He loved watching and talking sports. You could find him in his La-Z-Boy or local tavern during Bears or Notre Dame games. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 134 and believed in supporting things that were “American Made.” He knew the City of Chicago like the back of his hand and tried to teach his children the grid system of Chicago. Tom was always quick with a joke-particularly anything about his beloved Irish heritage. In his later years, he loved watching Jeopardy and doing Sudoku puzzles. Throughout all of his years, he loved the comradery of sharing beverages with friends. His charm and wit will be missed.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and his loved ones will attend the scattering of the ashes in the near future. Tom’s family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Angel’s Grace Hospice for their care during this unprecedented time.
