A life-long native of Oklahoma and a member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma and Grizzly and Black Bear Clan, He was the great-great grandson of last inherited Chief Ralph and Madge Pettit Dent, great-grandson to Rhoda and Al Compton. JC was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jimmy Compton and Gena Heath. He was a 2005 graduate of Edmond Santa Fe High School where he wrestled and was very socially active. JC was a long-time employee of Wal-Mart where he was a Department Manager and was loved and respected by his colleagues for his humor and willingness to always help. Wal-Mart was also where the love story of JC and Amber, JC’s loving wife, began.
In-spite of JC’s illness, he lived life boldly and to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman, participated in tribal ceremonies, enjoyed hanging out with friends and his wife, playing video games and loved his steaks rare. He had nicknames for all of his friends including Brown Bear, Catfish Charles, and Cracker, among others. JC’s safe place was his home where he enjoyed his wife and his pets, Zodie, Bo, and the fishes. JC always wanted to be a father and took pride in being a father figure to Evan and Ryen, young men that were close to him.
JC is survived many loving family members including his wife, Amber Compton; son, Ryen Carroll; brothers: Minke Compton, Stephen Mauldin, and Alexander Mauldin; step-brothers, Colin Donnelly and Connor Donnelly; mother, Gena Heath; father, Jimmy Compton; step-parents: Kyle Heath, Lauren Compton, and Debbie Compton; grandparents: Carol Compton, Jim Vigil, and Mary Gravitt, Keith and Judy Lipps; aunts, Isaias Martinez and Mary-Jane Gonzales; uncles: Robert Compton, Jeremiah Vigil, and James Vigil; and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins on his Otoe side. JC was preceded in passage to the next life by his sister, Nasstasia “Tosha” Compton, and grandfather, Milton “Buck” Compton.
