Beloved Wife of the late Raymond Reierson: Mother of Shelly (infant daughter lost shortly after birth) Patricia (Jim) Adam, Kevin (Jenny) Reierson, Neil (Megumi) Reierson, and Pamela Comstock. Grandchildren, Nicole, Slade, Hunter and Tekarra, and Great Grandchildren Miller and Taylor.
Joyce was a loving, kind, amazing woman, who was ahead of her times with her liberal views, advanced education, and rewarding careers. A true pioneer born in Lilyfield, Manitoba, Joyce attended a one room country school and went on to earn her Bachelor Of Science degree in Home Economics. In 1947 she boldly left Winnipeg to take a job in St. Paul, Alberta as District Home Economist, where she met Ray, her husband of 70 years. She was hard working, independent and a beauty. Joyce worked alongside her husband as the consummate political wife, was a faculty member at the U of A in the Home Economics Department, and worked for 14 years at Alberta Hospital as a Home Economist in the Nursing department. Joyce loved flowers and was an amazing gardener. She was also a terrific cook, to which her husband always credited for his long life. She and Ray travelled extensively, entertained friends from all over the world, and had a knack for making people feel comfortable and welcome. As a Mother, she continually encouraged her kids to pursue their dreams, and was our biggest cheerleader. We will miss her forever, but take comfort in our many happy memories and knowing our parents are once again reunited.
At Joyce’s request no service will be held, cremation entrusted to Memories Funeral Home.
