Julie A. Pomber, 85 of Elk Rapids passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at her home in Elk Rapids. Julie was born on April 17, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Clyde and Lorene (English) Thomas. She and her husband Philip lived in the Detroit suburb of St. Clair Shores for many years before moving to Elk Rapids and making it their home.
They loved and were embraced by the community to which they moved, and also looked forward to yearly vacations to Port St. Joe in Florida, where they had traveled for the better part of 25 years.
Julie became very active in her Elk Rapids community. She was a member of the Elk Rapids Garden Club for many years and also served as their treasurer. She was a very artistic person, who loved to entertain, enjoyed the waterfront, and looked forward to a fierce game of Bridge. She and Philip also belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Philip, who doted over her the last years as her health failed.
She is also survived by her sons; Eric (Sharon) and Christopher (Deborah), two grandsons, Eric (Sawyer) and Philip, and two sisters Gloria Peterson and Diane Duncklee.
