My deepest condolences to the GUIMERES family and extended family. Dennis has been an important part of my life. He was first a coach , then a mentor , then a friend. He encouraged, and guided with the right amount of tack and empathy that only he could know how to do. I am a better person because of you. Thank you , your memories will never die.

Our sincere condolences to the Byrd Family on the loss of a great man! Our thoughts and prayers are with you Kristy and your entire family during this difficult time. Dennis always had many basketball stories to share. I have fond memories of playing against the Woodrow Wilson team he coached in the state championship at CCSU. Dennis will be greatly missed!

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dennis very well as a young coach as he gave me wonderful support and guidance....and who can ever forget his “unique” singing of the national anthem at Palmer Field. He always was about making everyone around him better. To the Byrd family, I send you all my best wishes as it is clear by the wonderful people you all are that Dennis guided all of you as well. A man who will never be forgotten and a true gem in our community. RIP Dennis I will miss you very much.——Coach Smernoff

My thoughts are with you all. Dennis was a great friend, coach and teacher to all. I looked forward to him showing up to my office early everyday for Golf practice just so we could have our laughs and chats. Miss him dearly.

My heartfelt sympathy to the entire Guimares family, especially Kirsten. If everyone could have a loving father or friend like Dennis, the world would be in a better place. He was a pure example of a kind heart and I will miss him always.

My condolences to the Guimares family. Mr. Guimares was one of my favorite teachers and I still tell fond stories of him to my two sons. Someone who believed in me well before I was ready to believe in myself. He will forever live on in the lives of the students he believed in.
