8 December, 19335 October, 2020

On the morning of October 5, 2020, Paul Henry Oeltjenbruns of Fairfax Va. passed away at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda Md. Paul was 86 years old.

Paul was born on December 8, 1933, the son of Henry and Clara (Ohloff) Oeltjenbruns. Paul grew up in the small town of Swaledale, Iowa and worked on the family farm. He enlisted the US Navy in 1953 and served for 20 years before retiring with an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1973. While in the Navy and stationed in Taiwan he met his wife Chin-Tzu and they married in 1961 and welcomed daughter Jeannie in 1963. Shortly after retiring from the Navy, Paul decided to return to work, this time for the United States Postal Service as a Special Delivery Carrier and retiring after 20 years of service. Paul was a quiet, gentle, caring man who was always looking out for his family. Although he was a man of very few words, he always acknowledged their successes and provided guidance and support when needed. He really enjoyed some good natured teasing with his daughter and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and crabbing at the Naval Recreation Center in Solomons Island Md. Paul also enjoyed going to bingo and casinos, where he was quite lucky hitting a few jackpots.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Chin-Tzu Oeltjenbruns. He is also survived by his daughter Jeannie Timmons, her husband James Timmons and their children Jessica Timmons Matthews (Colin) and Joshua Timmons.

Paul Oeltjenbruns was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Ruth Oeltjenbruns, Ethel Wagner, Irene Mehman and Betty Begey, and brothers; Harold, James and Merle Oeltjenbruns. His family really appreciates the loving staff of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for taking care of Paul in his final days, honoring him with their final salute and their compassion for our family.

The family has entrusted Paul to Demaine Funeral Home, Fairfax.

Paul will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
