March 12, 1951 – August 4, 2025
Judith ‘Judi’ Ann Carmody passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2025, in Penrose, CO, at the age of 74 after battling cancer for nearly three years. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to William and Dorothy Clark. She is one of five siblings alongside Lorayne, Robert ‘Bobby’, Joann, and William ‘Billy’.
In 1962, Judi and her family moved to Florida, where she attended and graduated from Pompano Beach High School. After graduation, she met Jonathan Allen and the two married in December 1969. During that time, Jon and Judi became well-traveled during Jon’s time in the Army. They were stationed at Fort Knox (KY), Fort Lewis (WA), Fort Stewart (GA), Fort Carson (CO), and various posts in Germany; to include Wurzburg, Hanau, and Frankfurt. They welcomed their two daughters, Jennifer in October 1971 and Rebecca in August 1975 along the way.
During Jon’s deployment to Korea, Judi stayed at Fort Lewis where she worked as a liaison for the National Guard, which she fondly referred to as her favorite job, saying “I loved telling the officers what to do and had a great boss that backed me up!”
Even though Jon and Judi divorced in 1994, they remained friends up until his death in 2021. Not long after her divorce, she reconnected with Joe, although the two first met in 1988 when their kids, Rebecca and Shane became friends. After dating/courting for 13 years, they finally tied the knot September 4, 2005 in a memorable Las Vegas ceremony at the Boardwalk Casino attended by family and friends.
Judi retired from the County Clerk and Record’s Office in Fairplay, Colorado in 2004 to assist Joe with running their mobile mechanic and welding business, ALLCAR Mobile Repair Service. Judi played a behind-the-scenes, but integral role of managing the business, and showing up at the garage or job sites to keep things running smoothly when needed. Her meticulous organization balanced Joe’s mechanical grit, and together, they made a formidable team.
During her retirement, she and Joe dedicated much of their time to supporting veteran causes, notably as the secretary/treasurer for the 173rd Airborne Brigade Association, a passion in which they both shared. She was cherished by all the veterans she and Joe helped.
Together, they carved out a life of shared commitment, to one another and their family. Judi brought elegance and thoughtfulness to every aspect of their lives. Her ability to hold joy and responsibility in the same breath was part of what made her so beloved, not only by Joe, but by all fortunate enough to know her. She also had a special gift for noticing the needs of others, often before they were spoken, and would gently step in to help when someone needed it. Many of us were blessed by her generosity in this way.
Judi had a love for antique shopping, frequenting auctions and yard-sales, and most definitely lived by the motto of: “shop ‘til you drop”. She and Joe also loved traveling and visiting family any chance they could. One of their recent trips was to Montana, along with her sister Lorayne, to witness a major milestone in her grandsons’ lives. She was so proud to be able to attend Tyler’s high school graduation and Robby’s 15th birthday, which were on the same day, followed by a trip to the mall where each of them walked out with lots of goodies, and both Joe and Robby sporting brand new wallets! She loved making new memories and cherished every one of them.
She will always be remembered for her quiet compassion and her extraordinary ability to make others feel loved, seen, and special. While we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully, free of pain, after her long and resilient battle with lung/liver cancer. May we all find greater peace at the thought that she is now reunited with her beloved daughter, Jennie, who passed in March 2022.
She is remembered by all who loved her and is survived by her loving husband Joseph Carmody; her daughter Rebecca Allen-Yohn, and her family: husband Zachary, and her grandsons Tyler and Robert ‘Robby’; stepson Todd Carmody and his son JJ Carmody; stepson Shane Carmody and his son Graeson Carmody.
Her sister Lorayne Clark-MacRonald and her husband Rich; her brother Robert Clark and his wife Cathy and their daughter Christine; her sister Joann Ernsting, and her husband Sherwin and their children: Dawn Nortin, Sandy Walker, Monica Tedrow, and Tina Talamantes, and their families (listed below); her brother William ‘Billy’ Clark and his family, Tammy Clark and her son DeVaughn Clark, Krystal Clark and her children Skylar and RaSean.
Tina and Luis Talamantes, and their children Arias, Zario, Masai, and Mila. Dawn and Bryan Nortin, and their children: Payton and Lexi, Lincoln and Jayden, Noah and Breanna, August, and Brinley.
Sandy and Troy Walker, and their children Nya and Tihanna Walker.
Judi was also very loved by all of Joe’s immediate and extended family.
May she rest in peace and forever be in our hearts. Special thanks to Kari for writing this loving obituary, along with Lorayne and Rebecca.
