J.V. was a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene, and began his ministry in an era in which the denomination emphasized evangelism. Anybody who knew JV had no doubt that he was an evangelist, leading many thousands of people into a vital walk with Jesus Christ. But the family saw something else in J.V.- that made a profound impact all—-his compassion for the “least of these.” People were more than members, numbers, donors, or other metrics to measure, but people to love. His lifelong example of reaching out to people in both spiritual and physical need has had an incredible influence on his loving family.
When we think of JV, We think of Matthew 5:35: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” That was J. V. Morsch.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Morsch; parents, Vernon and Ruby Morsch; sisters, Maxine Rorem, Pauline Walling, and Diane Muffler, and grandson, Chase Vernon Morsch.
J.V. is survived by his wife of 16 years, Nancy Morsch; children Gary (Vickie) Morsch, Rebecca Morsch, Mark Morsch, Lori (Finley) Knowles, James Kyle Morsch, Lori Lawler, and Jamie Cannon; 16 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Centerpointe Community Church of the Nazarene, 9580 Curry Road, Orlando, FL 32825.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the church. Entombment with military honors will follow at 12:30 at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Gotha.
