Bruce, the son of Lyle and Margaret (Sullivan) Norman, was born on March 11, 1954 in Flint, MI. He married Mary Gian on July 11, 1981 in Flint. He graduated from Powers High School. He attended Central and Western Michigan Universities receiving a Master's of Science in Administration, Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, along with being very richly self educated. He worked in Texas at a camp for troubled youths before returning to Flint working for Flint Mental Health, where he met his wife. Eventually becoming a welder at Buick General Motors where he retired after 30 years.
Bruce was a woods person and was loved by animals. He enjoyed time at his cabin in Lovells, MI. Since retiring he spent the winters with his dad in Florida. Bruce was a avid reader of all things, but particularly of philosophy and economics. In retirement he had begun writing a book on the financial world and an autobiography. He was a good man, as loyal and generous as they come, with a hearty sense of humor. One of his favorite phrases was, "I have big shoulders," and he did. He had a personal mission to lessen the suffering of the world.
Bruce is survived by stepdaughter, Kathleen (Peter) Mugnolo; grandchildren, Willow, Eva, Peety; father, Lyle Norman; brothers, Paul (Judy) Norman, Keith (Nanci) Norman, Glenn (Kelly) Norman; sister, Suzanne (Jeff) Hemingway; sister-in-law, Lilly Norman and several special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families; and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, wife and brother Dale.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the friends and family are invited to old small private memorials as their time and space allows. A remembrance ceremony is being planned for the spring or summer of 2021 where his ashes will be put to rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Flint Kids Fund who are " Since 2016, the Flint Kids Fund has invested over $9 million in programs aimed to address and mitigate the impact of lead poisoning and trauma suffered by many children in Flint.
