Jessie was born in a farm house where she was raised till her father retired when she was 11 and they moved into town. She graduated from Fife Lake High School and moved to Sturgis, MI where she met Maurice at a skating rink. They were married January 2, 1954 and 11 months later they welcomed their 1st child. Jessie and Maurice enjoyed bowling on different leagues, dancing and traveling together. In the summer when Maurice was on leave from military duty they would travel for a month at a time. Then on their 5th anniversary they welcomed their second child into their lives.
Jessie was a loving mother, devoted wife and nurturing grandmother. She made sure her three children were cared for and dinner was always on the table. There was never a time when she did not have her hair and nails done or matching accessories. She was a collector of jewelry and an active member of the Moose lodge and the Elks as well as a flag bearer for the Does.
To those she knew, Jessie was a kind, sweet woman who never had a bad word to say about anything or anyone. She had a set of geese in her front yard that she enjoyed decorating for the different holidays and seasons. She always forgave, smiled and loved everyone no matter what. Jessie believed that things should be fair. When it came to Christmas, which was held at 1pm at her house every year, she always made sure to spend the same amount on every person in the family and if you brought anyone they were going to get something too.
Jessie is survived by; sons: Don Deter and Duane Deter; daughter Diane Shipman and her husband, Terry; granddaughters Lacey Johnson and her husband, Jeremy, Angela Coleman, Tawana Deter and her husband, Austin, Jennifer Haney; grandson T.J. Shipman and his wife, Chasity; great grandchild: Aspen Coleman, Bennett Johnson, Jonathan Derrick Roach and his wife, Chasity, Zachary Deter, Cici Deter, Caleb B Shipman, Brooklyn Shepperd, Braedyn Shepperd, Dylan P Shipman, Corey J Shipman, Peyton Marquez; great great grandchild Kyzer Lewis, nieces: Delores Coch, Judy Tobias and Jody Ford.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Paul Deter; sister Ida Fuller; brother Andrew Fuller; brother Albert Fuller and brother Frederick Fuller.
A visitation for Jessie will be held Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home Beltline Road, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
A funeral service will occur Monday, August 6, 2018 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.
A graveside service will occur Monday, August 6, 2018 from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
