David John Plasters from Greeley, Colorado passed away in his home on Sunday December 11th 2016. Dave was a well-known member of the Greeley community. After graduating from UNC with his Bachelor’s, he served as a detective with the Greeley Police Department. He then obtained a law degree from the University of Seattle, and operated a private legal practice for a number of years. A city counsel member and mayor pro tem with his best friend Willie Morton, he was known for his terrible fashion sense, ear-to-ear smile, and never-ending stories. Dave was incredibly generous, and if he saw a car stuck in the snow, or a woman fallen on the ice, he’d give his last bit of strength to carry her to safety. In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering on cars, going to stock car races, sport shooting, hiking at Pawnee National Grasslands, and taking his only grandson on long walks.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, William Plasters and brother, Steven Plasters. He is survived by his grandson Deklan Ferguson, his daughters Janelle Plasters and Breann Plasters, his siblings Paul Plasters, Jana Plasters, and Mark Plasters, his mother Vera Swalander, and several nieces and a nephew.
Services will not be held immediately. Instead, we will hold a Celebration of Life in the coming months. To be kept up to date, please join the Facebook group “Remembering David Plasters” or E-mail Janelle and Breann at [email protected]. We love you Dad, see ya on the flip side.
