Dear Family of Mike Noles,

Mike was an extremely brilliant man with a unique ability to solve complex problems. This, however, is NOT what I will remember most about Mikey, as some of us like to tease and call him.  He was always very gracious when we teased him. I believe he liked it because he knew that it meant he was loved.

Mike and I worked in the construction field together on numerous projects and we would sometimes go to dinner together.  Mike generally wouldn’t go with me unless the offering had a salad bar (smile!) This is how I got to know the kind, loving man who deeply cared for his Family and his Savior.  He mentored me in this way, as well, by the example he set, and I always knew that Mike genuinely cared for me and the others around him.  Mike truly “walked the walk” and did so with compassion for others.  This is what truly set him apart!

The last time I saw Mike was at a funeral several years back. Mike went out of his way to make sure he spoke with me, catching up and wanting to know how I was doing and what I had been up to.  I remember it because I had not seen Mike for several years, but it reminded me of his character, compassion, and interest in me and in others. 

In the days ahead, I will remember Mike often, his dry sense of humor, fun times from time spent working on projects, and his compassion for his family and others.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  Rest assured knowing he is with his Savior and that Mike made a significant impact on me and all those he came in contact!

Mike was an extraordinarily ethical and talented individual, and one that I had the privilege to get to know and work with.  I thoroughly enjoyed working with Mike and the Fluor and Frito-Lay teams, and I learned a lot from him, both as a mentor and a friend.

I will also remember Mike talking about both of you driving cross country trips to visit your family in Kansas.  Mike will be missed as a friend and colleague and devout Christian and I wish you and your family strength in the Lord.

He was a great teacher, mentor and friend to me and many others.  Thinking of each of you as you celebrate his remarkable life. I really enjoyed working with Mike, especially on the road.      He was great at his job and a good man.     I remember how devoted he was to his wife.      He will be dearly missed. The Frito Lay Engineering Leadership team would like to express our deepest sympathies to the Noles family during this time of loss.

Mike meant so much to the Frito Lay organization for the way he approached his life and the work that he did on ALL of the Frito Lay projects. Mike always approached his projects in a way that put the customers and all the team members first. His expertise enabled him to provide the right leadership at the right time and his methodical approach helped us get through the difficult situations that came our way. Also, somehow, while everything was happening, Mike was able to operate in a way that was constantly mentoring and coaching others. When we knew that Mike was on the job, we were confident that the project was destined to go well. We would all be well served to follow the approach that Mike took in his life and work. 

We pray for the Noles' family during this difficult time and take some level of comfort in knowing that Mike was committed to his faith.

Mike taught me everything I know about controls and a lot about life.  He was so patient and had such a unique way of breaking down complex problems into simple actionable items.   I've worked with Mike for decades on Frito-Lay projects and we always knew that if Mike was on the team, we had nothing to worry about.  Attached is a  photo of Mike, the way that I will remember him, standing at a white board in a construction trailer.  This photo being from one of our last projects together in Jonesboro, AR.  Thanks for sharing Mike with us and condolences to all of his friends and family.   

Dear Noles Family,

Upon hearing of the death of Mike, those of us in the Frito-Lay Engineering Department, both active and retired, began to reach out to each other to talk about Mike.  We wanted to send you our sincere heartfelt condolences and to tell you how valued he was to us.

Mike was a mainstay on Frito-Lay projects for 25+ years, often leading 4-5 major controls projects all at once! No matter how difficult the projects might have been, he was always the cool, calm and collected one that navigated through the difficulties with cheerful determination.  More important than the great things he achieved in his work, are the wonderful relationships he developed along the way.  His legacy at Frito-Lay will be all the people he mentored and developed.  He will be missed as a loyal friend and dear colleague.

As we talked about Mike, one common theme was shared by all of us; Mike always expressed how important his family was to him.  So, we wanted to let you know that we care and you are in our thoughts.

When I arrived at Fluor's Greenville office in 1989 I was assigned to the Kellogg's project (at that time the second largest cereal factory in the world) and Mike was on of my mentors.  In later years we built the first Baked Lays Potato Chip line and I later went on to lead the National Roll-out.      
Mike taught me so much, not just technically but also how to deal with clients and how to work hard.   He showed so much patience and was a good friend. 

Sincere condolences and prayers go out to the Noles' family at this time.   Mike was so wonderful to work with over the many years I was at Frito-Lay.  His knowledge and honesty in all situations was greatly respected.   God Bless the Noles family !   I know heaven gained an Angel today !!!
