Beloved wife to the late Bruce Keen (2022). Loving mother of Cheryl Arbuckle. Proud Nannie to Kyle (Jenny); Kaleigh (Greg); Heather (Richard). Proud Great-Nannie to: Spencer, Cylas, Callum, Evy, Ben, Josslyn, Maggie, Hannibal, Remy, Evan and Bernadette. Dear sister to Wayne McCuaig (Gayle). Predeceased by her parents Joe and Irene McCuaig. Daryl will be missed by all her friends and family, particularly Bob Arbuckle and her friends at the Church of the Ascension, Sudbury.
Daryl was born and raised in Sudbury. She met her husband Bruce as far back as public school. Daryl worked as a bank teller, in a confectionary store, and assisted Bruce with his moving business. She liked to bowl and was a member of a quilting group. The Church of the Ascension, Sudbury, became her church home. She helped to plan many events and, as well, took on the leadership role of the Junior Auxiliary. All the children in JA experienced fun and fellowship through crafts, putting together Christmas boxes and other helpful projects, snacks and even an overnight sleepover in the church at “Camp Evergreen”. She took students attending college in Sudbury into her home and made them part of her family. Daryl loved to join in with all the fun family times at her parents’ camp on Long Lake. On many occasions over the years, Daryl would drive from Sudbury to Milton or Georgetown to visit with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandkids. She was happy to go Cheryl’s trailer on the Bruce Penninsula, Lake Huron.
Daryl and Bruce moved from Sudbury to Guelph in October of 2018 to be with family. While they were able, they enjoyed going to watch their great-grandsons hockey and lacrosse games. They loved when the whole family gathered for a big dinner with a lot of laughter, good food, and teasing of their great grand-kids. They loved to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey games and the Toronto Blue Jays baseball games.
After Bruce passed away, Daryl moved to Eden House Care Home in Guelph where she received the most kind and caring attention from the dedicated staff. Our family’s sincere and heartfelt gratitude goes to everyone there.
Mum’s little dog pal Christy will miss her so much.
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel in Guelph. Her wishes were to be cremated. Daryl’s family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Her ashes will be placed in a simple wooden urn which was specifically made for her by friend Del Gates, Church of the Ascension. Daryl and Bruce’s ashes will be interred in Daryl’s parents’ gravesite at the Anglican Cemetery on Regent Street, Sudbury, next spring.
Donations in Daryl’s memory can be made to either the Guelph General Hospital Foundation or to the Church of the Ascension, Sudbury, and would be greatly appreciated by her family. Donations and condolences can be made online on Daryl’s memorial page at www.gilbertmacintyreandson-hart.com.
Until we meet again, Mum - I love you.
