Russell was born on August 14, 1963 in Roswell, New Mexico to James and Thelma (Wallace) Ray. He lived most of his life in Armona, California. He graduated from Hanford High School and attended West Hills Community College. He worked at Naval Air Station Lemoore.
Russell was preceded in death by his father, James and his mother, Thelma. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
