Lawrence S. Landry Jr.

Lawrence S. Landry Jr., 90 of Mattapoisett passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014. The son of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Parson) Landry, he was born in Gloucester on November 7, 1923. Lawrence was raised and educated in Gloucester and lived in Brockton before moving to Mattapoisett. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a Rigger at Fore River Shipyard and had been a Union Carpenter. Lawrence enjoyed breeding and running his Beagles at the Tri-Town County, Beaver Brook and Lil Rhody Beagle Clubs, reading by Mattapoisett Harbor and Ned's Point. He also was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Devoted husband of Mary E. (Beary) Landry. Loving father of Marie Katz and her husband Michael of Bridgewater, Mary Ellen Spence and her husband Charles of Scotland, Elizabeth Weimert and her husband Richard of NH, Faye Baxter and the late Carol Engman. Brother of Donald Landry and his wife Arlene of FL. Cherished grandfather of Theresa, Joshua, Mary, Benjamin, Daniel, Patrick, Thomas, Libbie and Isobel. Cherished great grandfather of Louise and Jack, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St in ROCKLAND on Sunday from 2-6 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St in Rockland.
