

Donald was the son of the late John and Margaret Byerly. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Jim, Bill, John and Ed Byerly; and a sister, Anne Stinner.
Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth (Kaster) Byerly; daughter, Janet (Michael) Williard of Hershey; daughter, Chris Fricchione of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Ryan and Dan Williard, Nicholas and Alexandra Fricchione and their father Frank; nephew, Ed Byerly; and niece, Shirley Talhelm.
He graduated from Williamstown High School in 1944 as class valedictorian and president, declined a college football scholarship as he was drafted and served in WWII. He retired from the former AMP Inc. and PNC Bank. Don was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran church in Hershey where he was an usher and served on several committees. He was a contributing member of the American Legion for 60 years.
Donald was an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State fan. He enjoyed attending sporting events for his grandchildren. He poured thru the daily newspaper, cover to cover. He loved to play cards, games and travel.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, PA 17033, at 11 a.m., with visitation 1 hour prior. Memorial contributions can be made to the church or to American Legion
Post 239, Williamstown, PA
Interment will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
