James A. Wentzel

Born October 9, 1953, in West Reading, PA, son of Grover Wentzel and May (Bailey) Wentzel. Jim was a graduate of Kutztown High School. He received his BA in math from Kutztown University and received his MBA in finance/accounting from the University of Pittsburg, PA. He worked at Highmark for 36 years before retiring in February 2024. He was a devoted provider who loved taking care of his family. He was an avid Phillies baseball fan. He loved family days at the baseball game and also family vacations at the beach.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Lynda of 29 years; his son Steven Wentzel and his partner Grace of Mechanicsburg, PA; his daughter Lauryn Wentzel of Mechanicsburg, PA; and his step-son Matthew Stuck and his wife Jordyn of York, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as his four-legged golden doodle Meadow.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Wentzel; sisters Jeanette Ebling and Joan Haring; and nephew Keith Haring.

A memorial to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 44 W Main St, Shiremanstown, PA 17011. Visitation will begin at 11:00, with services to follow at 12:00. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
