Kirstin Nicole Sponenberg, 36, of Lykens, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, June 15, 2025, as a result of an unknown medical condition. She is deeply missed by her family and friends, and she will forever remain in our hearts.
Kirstin graduated from Middletown Area High School in 2007 where she met many lifelong friends. She was currently working as a Medicare representative for GuideWell Source and also working part-time as a waitress at Cracker Barrel. Kirstin had a big heart; always looking out for those less fortunate than her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hosting holiday dinners, having cookouts and spending time at the beach. Above all else, she loved being a mom to her children Hunter and Maya. Kirstin spent many hours cheering them on at sporting and school events and she supported them in everything they did from Saturday morning soccer games or swim meets to traveling the country for cheer competitions. She was and always will be their biggest fan.
She is survived by her mother, Tiffany A. Atkinson of Harrisburg; her father Jeffrey R. Sponenberg and his wife Debra K. West of Montoursville; her children Hunter Thomas Bair and Maya Grace Sponenberg; her brother Jeffrey M. Sponenberg and his partner, Rachel McClain; her maternal grandmothers, Barbara (James) Highfield and Darlene (Dibble) Atkinson; her paternal grandmother Carol (Yanney) Sponenberg; her partner Christopher Wealand and his children along with many aunts, uncles and cousins and some wonderful friends who she has met over the years.
Kirstin was preceded in death by her maternal grandfathers Benjamin T. Atkinson and Jerold L. Highfield and her paternal grandfather Robert W. Sponenberg; her maternal great-grandparents Thomas and Anna (Suknaic) James and Benjamin T. and Betty (Frank) Atkinson and her paternal great-grandparents Robert and Helen (Martz) Sponenberg and TJ and Evelyn (Brown) Mills.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Crosspoint United Methodist Church, 430 Colonial Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the service following at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kirstin’s name to the American Heart Association or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which was a cause close to her heart.
