
Sally Ann (Wentling) Meyers entered into God's eternal care on January, 10, 2010. Born March 13, 1946 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Betty J. W. Perry. Sally is survived by her husband Alan (Rick) Meyers of 44 years. They were married September 4, 1965 in the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren by Rev. Paul Boll. In September 1990, the couple celebrated 25 years of marriage and renewed their vows which Rev. Paul Boll officiated.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Alan Roy (Bud) Meyers and wife Pauline (Polly), Gettysburg; Laurie Anne Meyers, Hagerstown, MD; and Arlyn Ryan Meyers, Sr. and wife Bridget, Gettysburg. Grandchildren: Arlyn Ryan Meyers, Jr., step grandchildren: Kyle, Jordan, and Morgan Cullison, Gettysburg; and twins, Ami and Kari Herren, New Oxford. As well as three sisters: Mary Newman and husband James, Boiling Springs; Drema Bonavitacola and husband Andrew of Elkridge, MD; and Kelly Perry, of Dry Run.
Sally loved her community and was involved in a variety of community services. These included but were not limited to: 4-H, Girl Scouts, hosting foreign exchange students, organizing fund raisers, and volunteering time and talents for the betterment of society. She was a foster mother to 14 boys and girls for the Adams County Children and Youth. She was employed with LIU #12 for 18 years. Upon her retirement in 2005, she concentrated her talents in grant writing and fund raising for the Adams County SPCA. She was instrumental in the establishment of the SPCA's Neuter for Life trailer, a mobile spay and neuter surgery unit. Furthermore, she was the voice of Chester the mouse in the Gettysburg Times SPCA spotlight article and was a contributing writer to Celebrate Gettysburg.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 16, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, 30 West High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325. The family will receive friends at the church, Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Pursuant to Sally's wishes, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd. Gettysburg, PA 17325.
