Born October 31, 1920 in Bower, WV, she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Pauline Miller.
Vivian’s childhood friends included screen actress Dagmar and WWII fighter pilot Chuck Yeager, who taught her how to drive. During the war, she worked as a Bell telephone operator and distributed calls from the attack on Pearl Harbor. Most notably, Vivian rose from her simple West Virginia roots to become one of Central Pennsylvania’s first businesswomen. She found her calling in women’s fashion and started a small consignment shop in Marysville during the late 1950s. By 1964, she had established Greene’s Dress Shop of Camp Hill. Vivian quickly became the purveyor of fine fashion for women in the Central Pennsylvania area. She also innovated marketing techniques, holding the first known tent sale in the mid 60s.
She is survived by four sons, Kent and wife Kathy, Mike and wife Kim, Tom and wife Mimi, and Joe; two daughters, Patty Greene and Peggy Sariano and husband Mike; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Vivian was the widow of Maj. William J. Greene (1976) and was also preceded in death by her brothers Cecil and Raymond, and sisters Mary and Nancy.
