
Jacqueline Cook Smith passed away on January 26, 2014, at the age of 89. She was a long time resident of Jackson, Mississippi before moving to Birmingham to be closer to her family. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Smith, parents Daniel Cook and Lola Reagan and daughter Sherry Spears. She is survived by daughters Nicki Beckham and Kim Smith, grandchildren Heath Beckham (Jamey) and April Beckham, as well as three great-grandchildren, John Henry, Luke, and Ellie Beckham.
Mrs. Smith was a Life Master at Duplicate Bridge, as well as an avid traveler and photographer. She was also recently inducted into the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Her quick wit and humor endeared her to the many that knew her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, from 5-7 pm at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood. The graveside service will be January 29, at one o’clock at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Jackson, Mississippi. The family wished to express their heartfelt thanks for the loving care given to Mrs. Smith by Donna Carr, LaKenya Hicks, and Linda Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Lifeline Children’s Services at lifelinechild.org.
