his wife of 40 years, Celia “Jerry” Salch, his sister Sharon Harris, four amazing children, John and wife
Sheryl Salch, Jason and wife Dana Salch, Scott and wife Deborah Ballard, and Denise Ballard. Four
grandchildren – Brandon, Alan, Patrick and Mathew. One great grandchild, Zoe. Preceded by his parents
Archie W. and Charleyne Salch from Rockport, TX.
Archie was born Dec. 10, 1946 in Waco. He played football for LaVega High School and attended Hill
Junior College. He spent much of his time biking to the local fishing hole and enjoying childhood friends.
He arrived in Houston in the late 1960’s where he pursued a variety of careers. He loved to tell stories
of his retail management days and his profit making abilities. He then turned to real estate sales and
finally mortgage loan brokering. He excelled with numbers and statistics and retained incredible
amounts of wisdom about life and business.
His favorite times were spent fishing in Rockport or golfing with his sons. He loved to read and could
retain facts and information for years. Archie was independent, strong willed, always confident in his
decisions and choices, and lived life on his own terms. He maintained a calm and positive disposition
despite all of the challenges that life threw at him.
He had a great interest in people and was quick to engage them in conversation. He even kept the
nurses entertained with stories and laughter in his final days. He loved animals and would quickly
connect with any passing dog, and friendship always ensued quickly.
A strong faith sustained his time with cancer treatments and prepared him for this next journey.
He is deeply missed and well loved.
