

Evans Lawrence Bissett was born July 30, 1924 in San Patricio county to parents Dudley and Leona Doan Bissett and attended school in Taft, Texas, graduating in 1941. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the customer service manager when he retired after 34 years from McEvoy Wellhead Equipment Company.
He was predeceased by his brother, Joe Kelly Bissett and sister, Anita Frances Brown and is survived by his wife of 68 years Virginia Polk Bissett; daughter, Sharon Duffield and husband Jim; sons, Michael Bissett and wife Stephanie, Daryl Bissett and wife Jennifer, granddaughters Linley, Leslie and Jessica and grandsons Wade, Bryan, Evan, Sammy, Joey and Ethan as well as great grandchildren: Jake, Evelyn, Savannah, Sydney, Danielle and Kristen.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Wednesday, September 29th beginning at 9:30am in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston, where a service celebrating Mr. Bissett's life will begin at 10:30am, led by Reverend Cheryl Smith of Pasadena United Methodist Church.
Graveside services at Memorial Oaks Cemetery will follow at 12 noon under the auspices of the V.F.W Post #8790, who are providing military honors in recognition of Mr. Bissett's service to his country.
