

Geraine “Janie” Duplantis Clements went to be with Her Lord and Savior on December 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family in Houston, Texas after a lengthy battle with frontotemporal dementia (Pick’s disease).
She was born in Morgan City, Louisiana on December 10, 1935, the daughter of Noelton J. Duplantis and Georgie Falgout Duplantis. Growing up in Morgan City she attended grade school at Sacred Heart Academy and high school at Morgan City High School graduating in 1954, and attending Touro Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana for two years.
She married Ervin “Clem” Clements on February 4, 1956. In 1965 the family moved to Houston, Texas for a job move from the Pure Oil Company to Reading and Bates Offshore Drilling Company.
In Houston, Geraine pursued a LVN degree and began work at Sharpstown Hospital in the newborn nursery. Late in 1978, she relocated to Memorial Hospital, Memorial City.
A member of the Hearthstone Garden Club since its inception, Geraine was an avid gardener, home maker, loved dancing and traveling on business trips with her husband to places around the world – Singapore, Switzerland, Niece, Egypt, Venezuela, Mexico and Hawaii.
She is survived by her husband Clem; daughters Pamala Ann Veazey and Michael, Catherine Marie Bang and John, Patricia Ann Clancy and Larry; five grandchildren Ryan Connolly, Andrew Clancy and Sarah, Dana Clancy, Robert Bang, Michelle Bang, and one great grandson Mason Bang; brother Daniel J. Duplantis and wife Patricia and sister Diane Fontenot; an aunt Olga May Plessala; brother-in-laws Colonel USA Philip J. Clements retired and wife Charlene and Charles L. Clements and wife Enid and sister-in-law Mary Beth Duplantis, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother David L. Duplantis and grandson Lawrence O. Clancy.
The family extends a special thank you to Doctors Pinky Twari and James Wilson, care giver Lisa Simpson, and neighbor Mary Richardson RN. They would also like to thank the entire staff of Methodist West Hospital, (especially the emergency room staff and the 6th floor crew) and Harbor Hospice.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials sent to the DeLa Salle Christian Brothers, 1522 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA. 70501 and/or the church of your choice.
A Rosary will take place at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on December 14, 2014 at 4:30pm directly following will be a visitation from 5pm to 7pm. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Church, 6646 Addicks Satsuma Road, Houston, TX 77084 on December 15, 2014 at 11am with a burial to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
