Joyce Ellene Hejtmancik

Joyce was born on September 15, 1930, to Robert and Jewell Harbin in Eastland County, Texas and spent her youth moving with her family to various locations in Texas and Oklahoma. Joyce graduated from Ranger High School and attended North Texas University. She then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and began her career as a secretary with a major oil company where she met her husband, Lloyd Hejtmancik. They were married in Tulsa on May 4th, 1958, and moved to Houston in 1964. There she briefly had a career in real estate and then became a full-time stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church and was active in school and church activities.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd Hejtmancik, son Bryce Hejtmancik and wife Liz Chang of Brooklyn, New York, daughter Cynthia Steele and husband Philip Steele of Allen, Texas, grandsons Ethan Steele and Colin Steele, and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerrell and Jewell Harbin, by her sisters Maudine Charter and Helen Welborn, and her brother, Calvin Harbin.

Visitation with the family began at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Fair Haven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner in Houston, where a memorial service for Joyce followed at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Robert "Bob" Luton, officiating.
