Gwenn Duhon, at the age of 79, of Jacksonville, Florida entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 22, 2021 at home with her closest loved ones by her side.
Gwenn was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Andrew Thomas Duhon, Jr. Together they managed three very successful car washes, built a home filled with love and laughter, and spread their generous and caring spirit near and far.
Originally from Philadelphia, Gwenn’s family moved to Green Cove Springs in 1955 as part of their military service. As a youth, she won Miss Clay High and Miss Clay County. After graduation, she went to work for Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, Missouri. Gwenn then moved to Los Angeles where she worked in the financial services and insurance industries, specializing in Business Administration. In 2002, Gwenn received the prestigious “Woman of The Year” award from the Southern Car Wash Association for her service to the association.
Gwenn was a member of the Mandarin Presbyterian Church and previously served Christ Church for over twenty years. As a member of the Rotary Club of San Jose and a Paul Harris Fellow, Gwenn was a firm believer in devoting her time to charitable causes. Her favorite charities were Christ Church Academy, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the American Heart Association.
When not running her business or serving her community, Gwenn enjoyed letting her hair down and living life to the fullest. She was a member of the San Jose Country Club and The River Club. She was an avid Jaguars fan from the beginning, always on the sidelines with a cheer. Gwenn was a world traveler and enjoyed exploring other cultures, her favorite destination being Italy.
Gwenn is survived by her identical twin sister, Nancy Flores, niece Tonya Dwyer and her son Mark Ferrell (Suzanne), her grandchildren Amber Montgomery (Braden), Ryan Ferrell (Ophelia), Ayden Ferrell and great-grandson Loki Montgomery. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and her stepchildren; Cheryl, Thomas and Bunny. Gwenn also held her special friend Cynthia Richmond and lifelong friend, the late Gail Murray Cornell close to her heart.
Gwenn would like to thank her doctors and caregivers, Drs. Perkins, Ackerman and Ashraf for the wonderful care over the past three years. Her family and friends wish Gwenn complete peace for a life well lived- full of accomplishments, adventure, laughter, faith and above all, love.
A memorial service for Gwenn will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
