

Joyce Livingston Prescott Burrows, 84, passed away October 12, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Southside Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Inverness, FL to the late Grace and Olin K. Livingston on November 10, 1928. Her mother passed when Joyce was 5 years old and she was adopted by her maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William (Bill) Weaver. She graduated from Andrew Jackson H.S. under the name of Joyce Weaver and attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C. Joyce married Harold Prescott on Dec. 6, 1949 and they were married until his death in 1978. Joyce was employed for many years at Southern Bell (Bellsouth) working her way up from a telephone operator to executive secretary. She later became Billing Supervisor and retired in 1987. Joyce was a member of Southside United Methodist Church and the Heritage Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Jackson Jills and made many table decorations for them as well as maintaining lists of Alumni Girls. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and participated in many charitable activities, especially making stuffed hearts and bears for hospital patients. She is survived by her loving husband John Burrows, son, Thomas ( Laurie) Prescott, son- in- law Robert Belson .Her daughter Sandra Prescott Belson preceded her in death. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 10-10:55 AM at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, Fl. 32207. The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013, 11 AM at Southside United Methodist Church. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, Fl. 32207.
